The diversified agricultural studies major is designed for the intellectually aggressive student who seeks a broad education in the agricultural sciences combined with essential studies in the natural sciences, mathematics, leadership, communications skills, humanities, and social sciences. The diversified agricultural studies major may also be an appropriate initial major for the student who may be undecided about which area of the agricultural sciences s/he wishes to pursue.

Points of Distinction:

  • The interdisciplinary nature of the program provides flexibility for students to build strong competencies in one or more minors in agricultural sciences and/or natural resources.
  • Coursework taken from five categories and at least four different program areas provides a broad understanding of agricultural sciences and natural resources.
  • The program has an integrated cropping and/or animal holistic farm management approach.
  • Areas of emphasis are in precision agricultural technology and sustainable agriculture.
  • Students are advised by faculty members from a broad range of disciplines.
